Statement on Dar Al-Farooq Islamic Center Attack

Early Saturday morning, while most people were still sleeping, the imam and members of the Dar Al-Farooq Islamic Center in Bloomington, Minnesota prepared for their morning prayers. Just then, the building shook and there was an explosion in the imam’s office.

Thankfully, no one was injured in the attack on the Dar Al-Farooq Islamic Center. But make no mistake, this is an attack meant to terrorize Muslims out of exercising their religious freedom. The 1st Amendment Partnership stands in solidarity with the Dar Al-Farooq community and all Muslims, defending their right to worship and live out their faith free of fear and free from discrimination.

We echo the words of  Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton: “Every place of worship, for all Minnesotans of every faith and culture, must be sacred and safe. My prayers are with the children, families, and faith leaders of the Dar Al Farooq Islamic Center today.”
